Proposal: Enhanced Content Filtering for Educational AI

I'd like to propose a new set of content filtering rules specifically designed for educational AI applications. These rules would help ensure that AI systems used in educational settings provide accurate, age-appropriate, and balanced information.

Key Components:

  1. Age-appropriate content filtering: Different filtering levels based on educational stage (elementary, middle school, high school, university)
  2. Subject matter expertise verification: Ensuring AI responses in educational contexts are academically sound and reflect current consensus in the field
  3. Source citation requirements: Educational AI should provide references for factual claims when requested
  4. Balanced perspective presentation: For topics with multiple viewpoints, ensure AI presents major perspectives fairly

Implementation would require developing specific rule sets for each educational level and subject area, with input from educators and subject matter experts.

What do you think about this proposal? Are there other aspects of educational AI that should be addressed in these filtering rules?

I strongly support this proposal. As an educator, I've seen firsthand how important it is to have age-appropriate content filtering. The source citation requirement is particularly valuable - it would help students learn to verify information rather than just accepting what AI tells them.

Thank you for the support! Would you have any specific suggestions for how the age-appropriate filtering should be implemented for different educational levels?

For elementary levels, I'd suggest focusing on simple language, concrete examples, and strict filtering of sensitive topics. For middle and high school, gradually introduce more complex concepts and nuanced discussions, but still with appropriate guardrails. University level could have minimal content restrictions but maintain strong emphasis on accuracy and source citation.

I like the direction of this proposal, but I have some concerns about implementation complexity. Creating and maintaining different rule sets for each educational level and subject area will require significant resources. Have you considered how this would be maintained and updated over time as educational standards evolve?

I wonder if we could implement a community review process for educational content filters? This would allow educators to contribute to and review the rule sets, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
